The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses delivered in the country surpassed 190.33 crores on Sunday, according to the Union Health Ministry.
Until 7 p.m. on Sunday, more than 11 lakh (11,93,312) vaccination doses had been administered. With the compilation of the final reports for the day by late night, the daily vaccination tally is projected to rise.

According to Health Ministry data, a total of 20,524 precaution doses of COVID-19 vaccination were delivered to persons aged 18-59 years till 7 p.m. on Sunday, bringing the total precaution doses given in this age group to 10,93,599 thus far.

In addition, the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination has been provided to around 3.04 crore youngsters aged 12-14 years.

On April 10, India began delivering COVID-19 vaccine prophylactic doses to all adults over the age of 18 at private vaccination centers.

All persons above the age of 18 who have completed nine months after the second dose are eligible for the prophylactic dose.
The nationwide vaccination push began on January 16, 2017, with healthcare personnel being the first to be immunized. Vaccination of front-line workers began on February 2 of last year.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 of last year for adults over the age of 60, as well as those aged 45 and up with certain comorbid conditions.

From April 1 of last year, India mandated vaccination for all people above the age of 45. From May 1 of last year, the government decided to broaden its vaccination campaign by enabling anybody above the age of 18 to be immunized against the viral disease. The next wave of immunization began on January 3 for adolescents aged 15 to 18 years.

From January 10, India began providing vaccine precaution doses to healthcare and frontline workers, as well as individuals aged 60 and older with comorbidities. From March 16, the country began immunizing youngsters aged 12 to 14, and it also abolished the comorbidity clause, making all people over the age of 60 eligible for the precautionary dosage of the Covid vaccine.
