India reported 4,194 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the total confirmed tally to 4,29,84,261 while active infections continued to fall.

A total of 255 COVID-19 deaths were registered in the period, taking the toll due to the infectious disease to 5,15,714. Kerala continued to report backlog deaths as part of its data reconciliation exercise registering 203 fatalities.

Kerala also registered the most deaths at 24 in the period, followed by Karnataka (7) and Haryana and Maharashtra which recorded four deaths each. The majority of the states and Union Territories recorded no deaths in the period under review.

The health ministry said that a total of 77.68 crore tests have been conducted in the country so far of which 8,12,365 tests were done in the last 24 hours.

Overall, 179.53 crore vaccine doses have also been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive against coronavirus, as per details shared.

The government also said that more than 181.77 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to the states so far.
